We're currently seeking Quality Specialist based in and around Newport to work within a state of the art, high output diagnostics laboratory environment as part of the UK's NHS Test and Trace programme.

As well as playing a vital role in supporting society's return to a more normal way of life by helping to break the chains of COVID-19 transmission, you will also gain invaluable experience and exposure to some of the country's most highly skilled individuals in the scientific community.

Your responsibilities:

As a Quality Specialist your primary responsibility will be to support to site operation managers in all aspects of Quality Management and ensuring each department meets or exceeds the standards required of ISO 15189.

You will be part of a team of onsite Quality Specialists who will create awareness and provide training and education to all employees on quality processes and programs as well as overseeing Quality Assurance and Control of laboratory performance through internal and external audits.

As a Quality Specialist you will oversee the maintenance of the Quality Management System and Document Control System. Quality Assurance and Control of laboratory performance through internal and external audits.

You will be responsible for developing and implement training and education programs, to educate all employees and management on quality processes, standards and results.

You will plan, initiate and manage quality improvement projects, providing input into review meetings with business leaders and giving advice/ support to the Site Manager and teams on Quality issues.

Your experience:

In order to be successful in the role of Quality Specialist, you'll need the following education, experience and skills:

Education:

  • Previous experience working in quality with audit experience, not necessarily in the healthcare/science sector
  • 2-3 years experience working within a quality management system
  • Must be familiar with UK quality management system ISO 9001 and ideally have some experience of ISO 15189 and/or ISO 17025

Experience:

  • Work collaboratively with Laboratory Operations staff
  • Proven track record of delivering continual positive process improvement in systems and process.

Skills:

  • Excellent organisation and communication skills.
  • A good balance of negotiating and influencing skills.
  • A degree of flexibility toward working hours
  • Excellent presentation skills
