Fixed Term Contract - Full Time

We're currently seeking Plymouth based Laboratory Technicians to work within a high output diagnostics laboratory environment as part of the UK's NHS Test and Trace programme.

As well as playing a vital role in supporting society's return to a more normal way of life by helping to break the chains of COVID-19 transmission, you will also gain invaluable experience and exposure to some of the country's most highly skilled individuals in the scientific community.

Job Purpose

A laboratory technician is part of a clinical support team whose purpose is to provide timely and accurate high quality scientific information that will assist service users from the hospital and community, in the establishment of a clinical diagnosis.

The poster holder will use practical skills to carry out tasks associated with the pre-analytical preparation of specimens within the COVID Hub Laboratory. Full training and supervision will be provided, cross training between teams is also available where time and staffing permits

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a scientific, technological, manufacturing, or process driven environment

As well as a competitive rate of pay of £12.82 / hour (with an uplift applied for nights to £15.64/Hr).

You'll receive comprehensive training on relevant lab procedures and equipment during induction.

This role works on a shift pattern of 8am-8pm days and 8pm-8am nights. With 4 days on 4 days off. This will change monthly. Therefore, a month of days and a month of nights.
