We're currently seeking Lab Support Workers based in and around Gateshead to work within a state of the art, high output diagnostics laboratory environment as part of the UK's NHS Test and Trace programme.
As well as playing a vital role in supporting society's return to a more normal way of life by helping to break the chains of COVID-19 transmission, you will also gain invaluable experience and exposure to some of the country's most highly skilled individuals in the scientific community.

Your responsibilities:
The Lab Support Supervisor is part of a clinical support team whose purpose carry out a variety of laboratory duties including sample receipt, sorting, unpacking, stock control, data entry, primary specimen preparation, virus inactivation procedures and set-up of COVID-19 tests under the supervision and guidance of a Leader.
You'll work as part of a team to carry out a variety of tasks including specimen reception, labelling, registration, and pre-analytical and analytical sample preparation and data manipulation using the networked computer system.
As our Lab Support Supervisor, you will also perform basic laboratory tests and operate equipment under the supervision of your team leader. All this will be done in accordance with standard laboratory operating procedures and policies as you will be exposure to contained infectious materials.
Your experience:
In order to be successful, you'll need the following education and skills:
Education:
- Good standard of education, including GCSE Maths or English (or equivalent)
Skills:
- Self-organisation & ability to prioritise
- Effective verbal & written communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Effective key board skills & accurate data input
- High level hand-eye co-ordination for speed & accuracy
- Understanding of health & safety
