Fixed Term Contract
We're currently seeking an Environmental Officer based in and around Warwickshire to work within a state of the art, high output diagnostics laboratory environment as part of the UK's NHS Test and Trace programme, helping society's return to a more normal way of life.

What you can expect:
Implementation and management of the environmental management system and reporting systems to ISO and DHSC standards/requirements
ensuring that EMS requirements are established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard;
Ensuring that sufficient resources are allocated for the proper implementation of the environmental policy and the EMS;
Regular review the policy and the effectiveness of the EMS, and ensure that the necessary changes are made;
To act as the Chairman of the EMS Committee and have responsibility and authority for:
Leading the EMS Committee to establish and implement the EMS according to ISO 14001 standard, and monitoring the performance of the EMS; Co-ordinating internal EMS audits to ensure the EMS has been properly implemented and maintained; Handling and investigating nonconformities and ensure corrective and preventive action have been taken to mitigate any impacts caused; Reporting on the performance of the EMS to the top management for review and as a basis for improvement of the EMS.
What we're looking for:
Significant experience within the management of Environmental Management systems and processes within an operational laboratory environment.
Experience with 'Ideagen Qpulse' Quality Management System would be a preference
Experience in leading and driving forward, establishing, and implementing new environmental management systems or re-design.
Experience in liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including assessment bodies on all areas of quality and compliance.
Experience in conducting audits and hosting external auditors.
An understanding of how the sites procedures relate in the larger regulatory environment and an ability to place them in context
An excellent awareness of ISO standards
Experience working within a laboratory setting working to relevant ISO accreditation standards; ISO 14001, ISO9001.
You will receive a minimum 18-month contract with opportunity to go permanent and competitive rate of pay and a 10% retention bonus (paid at 9 and 18 months). Please note, successful candidates will be required to spend a minimum 3 weeks in training working flexible day patterns (including some weekends) before transitioning onto your shift.

The role will work Monday - Friday.

Please be aware that Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) including a media check is the required level of screening for all staff working at the Leamington Spa Laboratory.
