We're currently seeking Biomedical Scientists based in and around Liverpool to work within a state of the art, high output diagnostics laboratory environment as part of the UK's NHS Test and Trace programme.

Your responsibilities:

Day to day activities in your role as Biomedical Scientist will include:

  • Provide technical expertise to the project
  • Authorise patient results and quality assurance schemes.
  • Undertake analyser maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Supervise other technical laboratory staff.
  • Have responsibility for their own training, development and competencies.
  • Create and review technical documents and SOPs using the laboratory QMS.
  • Assist laboratory management in ensuring compliance with organisational quality standards and H&S requirements are maintained.
  • Pursue a programme of continuous professional development in accordance with any relevant professional registration

Your experience:

In order to be successful in the role of our Biomedical Scientist you'll need the following education, experience and skills:

Education:

  • BSc Honours degree, recognised by the Institute for Biomedical Science (IBMS)
  • Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year experience of working in a diagnostic laboratory, including authorising a variety of different results.
  • Familiarity with laboratory quality management and information management systems.
  • Experience of maintaining documents and procedures within laboratory accreditation specifications (including COSHH, SOPs and training /competency).
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and procedures
  • Experience of shift/on-call/out of hours working and willingness to participate in shift working as required
  • Experience supervising other laboratory personal
